We all know that we missed out a little bit in the 2022 college football season when we didn’t get a chance to watch the Oregon Ducks face off against the USC Trojans.
It’s a marquee matchup that came close to happening in the Pac-12 Championship game, but the Ducks’ late-season loss to the Oregon State Beavers made it so that Utah got into the conference title game rather than Oregon.
All of that is being rectified in 2023, though. This year — which is USC’s last in the Pac-12 — the Ducks and Trojans will meet in the regular season.
On November 11, we will get what USA TODAY’s College Sports Wire is calling one of the games of the year.
This November matchup will feature arguably the nation’s two most highly anticipated returning quarterbacks in defending Heisman winner Caleb Williams and Bo Nix, who had a breakout season in 2022 with the Ducks after transferring in from Auburn. Both of these teams looked like playoff contenders at one point last season, but late losses squandered the opportunity.
We didn’t get to see these two teams face off in 2022 thanks to Oregon’s loss to Oregon State which cost it the chance to play for a Pac-12 Championship, but this game could have massive conference (and CFP) implications. Also, it’s probably just going to be really, really fun.
Dan Lanning vs. Lincoln Riley; Bo Nix vs. Caleb Williams; the Pacific Northwest vs. Hollywood. You know this one is going to be thrilling to watch.
There’s a good chance it ends up playing a huge part in the race for the Pac-12 title, as well as a potential spot in the College Football Playoff. The Ducks are lucky enough to play the California Golden Bears a week before this game, while USC has to host the Washington Huskies.
Mark your calendars now for this one, it’s going to be a must-watch game.
