NEW YORK — Brooklyn Nets guard Cam Thomas has not had the most forgiving start to his NBA career. The second-year player out of LSU has been a bench player for most of his tenure in the league as he has started only five out of 108 games despite his penchant for scoring the basketball in bunches.
“It’s tough,” Thomas said after Wednesday’s 116-105 win over the Miami Heat when asked what it’s like for him trying to figure out his role amidst all of the changes to the Nets’ roster. “From doing one thing then try to adjust to the team because it’s just what you got to do. It’s tough for sure. So, you just got to figure it out and move on from there.”
Thomas, who scored 19 points in 21 minutes off the bench against the Heat, seemed uneasy about his role change. The most that Thomas has played in the last three games is 21 minutes while in the three games before that (after the Kyrie Irving trade request became public), he played at least 33 minutes and scored at least 40 points in at two of those games.
