Fans have fallen in love with the Overwatch 2 dating sim

The Overwatch 2 dating sim Loverwatch is live now, and fans have fallen head over heels for the visual novel-style mini-game

The Overwatch 2 dating sim Loverwatch is live now, and fans have fallen head over heels for the visual novel-style mini-game. For a short time, to celebrate Valentine’s Day, players can take Mercy or Genji on a date and get to know the multiplayer game’s heroes a bit more intimately.

Psyop, the makers of the Dead By Daylight dating spinoff Hooked on You, helped make Loverwatch, and one thing fans are enjoying most is the similar humor Psyop infused the game with. Loverwatch is peppered with fourth-wall-breaking moments and Overwatch lore, from jokes about Genji being tough to heal to digs at Blizzard for never giving Zenyatta a substantial role in Overwatch’s story.

It helps that Blizzard and Psyop created a Cupid version of Hanzo to kick the event off.

“You’re gonna drop this at 2 p.m. on Monday and expect me to continue my work day as normal?” one Twitter user wrote in response to seeing Hanzo.

Others were just as pleased to go on a date with Mercy and Genji.

Reddit’s Overwatch community shared similar sentiments, with the common theme being that fans hope the tease that there may be a full Overwatch dating sim in the works is true. At the very least, it seems Blizzard is hinting at some new lore developments in the coming months. The dating sim hints at more to come in the relationship between Zen and Ramattra, and these teases come just after Blizzard also hinted at lore teases in the new Antarctica map in season three.
