USC women’s basketball team back in AP Top 25 for first time in 7 years

#USC women’s basketball landed in the AP Top 25 for the first time since 2016. That’s a sign of this program’s growth.

The USC Trojan men’s basketball team suffered a gut-wrenching loss to Oregon State on Saturday. However, the women’s team has enjoyed a terrific season, with the upset against Stanford still feeding the confidence of this team, which has only grown over the past month. On Monday, the Trojans landed in the Associated Press top 25 for the first time since 2016.

Lindsay Gottlieb’s team is essentially a lock to make the NCAA Tournament, but they have a tough stretch to finish the year. Getting into the top 25 is a massive step in the right direction for the program. The Trojans landed at No. 25 in the new AP poll. They took care of Oregon State in overtime on Sunday to remain in contention for a top-four seed in the Pac-12 Tournament.

The trojans are now the seventh Pac-12 team in the top 25, and Stanford and Utah are both in the top-five at 3 and 4, respectively.

The Trojans are 19-6 on the year, and they have won four of the last five games, with the loss coming to Arizona.

The Trojans face Stanford on Friday before rounding out the regular season with California, Washington, and Washington State.

Gottlieb knows how much this means to the team. She shared her emotions on Twitter.
