Nets’ Cam Thomas fined 40K for comments after Bulls win

Cam Thomas has been fined $40,000 for his postgame comments on Thursday.

Brooklyn Nets guard Cam Thomas has been fined $40,000 for comments that he made during a postgame interview following Thursday’s 116-105 win over the Chicago Bulls, the NBA announced on Friday. Thomas scored 20 points in the game, but it came on 3-of-16 shooting from the field.

Thomas did the interview with TNT’s Jared Greenberg alongside newcomer Spencer Dinwiddie, who was making his first appearance during his second stint with Brooklyn. During Dinwiddie’s introductory press conference, he said that the Nets didn’t get the most talented guys after the Kyrie Irving trade, but that they got the best-looking guys in the deal.

Greenberg asked Thomas about Dinwiddie’s comments and Thomas responded “We already had good-looking guys, no homo.” Thomas issued an apology through his Twitter account saying that he didn’t intend to hurt feelings with his words and that he was just being playful. Thomas, 21, is in his second season in the NBA after being drafted 27th overall out of LSU in the 2021 draft.
