Aaron Jones believes QB Jordan Love is ready to ‘be that guy’ for Packers

Packers running back Aaron Jones: “Jordan Love is definitely ready…he will be that guy.”

Green Bay Packers running back Aaron Jones is confident that Jordan Love is ready to “be that guy” as the starting quarterback in Green Bay if Aaron Rodgers doesn’t return to the Packers in 2023.

Jones, the team’s nominee for the Walter Payton NFL Man of the Year award, appeared on several shows in Phoenix on Thursday, including “Undisputed” and “The Jim Rome Show.”

A hot topic: Love, the Packers’ 2020 first-round pick who has waited patiently behind Rodgers for the past three seasons. His time might be coming, even if Jones thinks (or hopes) Rodgers is coming back.

“Jordan Love is ready. He will be that guy,” Jones told “Undisputed” on FOX Sports. “I got a lot of trust in Jordan.”

The Packers running back said Love gained confidence during OTAs and it “snowballed” throughout the season. He praised his intelligence, arm talent and movement ability. And Jones said Love is “itching” to play.

Here’s the snippet of Jones with Shannon Sharpe and Skip Bayless:

Love might get his chance to be the starting quarterback for the Packers in 2023 if Rodgers retires and is traded away.

Jones echoed the sentiment from other teammates: Love is “definitely ready.”

“From the time he’s come in until now, he’s just continued to work, work, work,” Jones told Jim Rome. “You could see the confidence starting to come out even more and more. He got some time to play in games this past season, and you can tell he made that jump and he’s confident out there and he’s capable and he can do it at a high level. So I feel like he’ll definitely be that guy when A-Rod’s gone.”

Here’s the snippet from “The Jim Rome Show”:

Rodgers will go through a four-day, four-night darkness retreat following the Super Bowl in an effort to gain clarity on his future. The four-time MVP expects to be ready to make a decision on whether he will return to the Packers, retire from football or request a trade in the coming weeks.
