A new person has shown up on the list of potential next offensive coordinators at Notre Dame. Matt Freeman of Irish Sports Daily reported discussions have taken place between Notre Dame and Kansas State offensive coordinator Collin Klein. Now we have much greater detail.
According to multiple reports, there is a mutual interest between Notre Dame and Klein. As always, Football Scoop was on the story Thursday night as was Kellis Robinett of the Wichita Eagle. According to the Football Scoop report, Klein spent much of the last couple of days in South Bend:
Klein was in South Bend, Indiana, both Wednesday evening and into Thursday before flying back to Kansas State, where the former Wildcats’ star quarterback has spent the past half-dozen seasons on the coaching staff for multiple head coaches.
Klein is remembered for his fantastic senior season as Kansas State’s quarterback in 2012. He guided the Wildcats to an 11-1 regular-season record and, at one point, a No. 1 ranking in the BCS standings. He was a Heisman finalist that year, finishing third behind Johnny Manziel and Manti Te’o (who should have won it).
