Why the 2023 Grammys didn’t actually leave out a Taylor Hawkins tribute, explained

This explains why.

While the 2023 Grammy show featured powerful In Memoriam tributes to fallen artists like Takeoff, Loretta Lynn and Fleetwood Mac’s Christine McVie, many music fans wondered where late Foo Fighters drummer Taylor Hawkins was in the segment.

With the Grammys usually falling in the winter and Hawkins’ tragic death happening last March, some wondered if the show had committed an outrageous snub.

In actuality, the omicron variant of COVID-19 postponed last year’s Grammy ceremony to April. That gave the awards show a fresh window to honor Hawkins and a bevy of other music titans lost in 2021.

Thankfully, there was no Hawkins snub at any Grammy ceremony. That’d be a bizarre error for a show like the Grammys to make.

While the awards ceremony has been known to leave out music figures from its In Memoriam segment, Hawkins was certainly not one of them. His just took place last spring.
