Tennessee distance specialist Dylan Jacobs earned Southeastern Conference men’s runner of the week honors after a record-setting performance Jan. 27.
Jacobs, a graduate student and transfer from Notre Dame, set an American collegiate record in the 5,000-meter run at the John Thomas Terrier Classic hosted by Boston University.
In his debut with the Vols, Jacobs finished in 13 minutes, 11.01 seconds, setting an indoor record in the event.
Jacobs’ mark also broke a previous SEC mark, set by former Vol and three-time Olympian Todd Williams.
Williams set the previous record of 13:41.50 in 1991.
Tennessee will next compete in the Tiger Paw Invite from Feb. 10-11.
