The Super Bowl is the top of the mountain for NFL teams seeking to etch their names in history. The Kansas City Chiefs will match up with the Philadelphia Eagles in a little over a week to crown a new champion with a roster filled with veteran talent.

Chiefs defensive leaders like Chris Jones and Frank Clark have tasted success and defeat on the league’s biggest stage. They are joined this season by many teammates that have never experienced everything that comes with the festive week leading up to the Super Bowl, let alone preparing to play in the game.

One of the many young defensive stars on the team is linebacker Nick Bolton, who led the team in tackles in 2022. He has grown into one of the more consistent players in the league in just his second NFL season. Bolton spoke with reporters before Thursday’s practice about the advice he’s received from his veteran teammates ahead of the big game.

“Just kind of control what you can control, put your best foot forward in football, and let everything else on the outside handle itself,” said Bolton. “I kind of feel like that’s been important just for me, and a lot of the other young guys we’ve got on our defense. It’s just trying to knock out (the) off-the-field stuff early and just worry about football from here on out.”

The Chiefs’ defense will be focused on slowing down an electric Eagles offense that has put up big numbers through two postseason games. Bolton is a key player that can play a significant role in disrupting Philadelphia’s run-heavy game plan, so any advice to unlock a dominant performance will be vital.
