Gilbert Burns opens as heavy favorite to beat Jorge Masvidal at UFC 287

Oddsmakers aren’t giving Jorge Masvidal much of a chance against Gilbert Burns at UFC 287.

[autotag]Gilbert Burns[/autotag] is a heavy favorite against [autotag]Jorge Masvidal[/autotag].

Former welterweight title challengers Burns (20-5 MMA, 13-5 UFC) and Masvidal (35-16 MMA, 12-9 UFC) will meet in the UFC 287 co-main event on April 8.

At DraftKings, Burns opened as a whopping -435 favorite, meaning a $435 bet would be needed on “Durinho” to return $100. Meanwhile, Masvidal is a +350 underdog, meaning a $100 bet on “Gamebred” would result in $350 with a win.

It’s not the first time Masvidal has been an underdog in a fight. In fact, Masvidal has closed as the betting underdog in eight of his past nine outings. In those fights, Masvidal upset Donald Cerrone, Darren Till and Ben Askren.

Masvidal is currently enduring the roughest patch of his career, having lost three straight – two to Kamaru Usman in title fights and most recently a lopsided decision to Colby Covington at UFC 272 last March.

Burns was able to rebound from his barnburner against Khamzat Chimaev at UFC 273 with a quick submission win over veteran Neil Magny at UFC 283 in January.
