The Houston Texans are getting ever so close to naming their sixth full-time coach in team history.
According to Ian Rapoport from the NFL Network, the Texans and San Francisco 49ers defensive coordinator DeMeco Ryans could meet as soon as Monday afternoon once he takes care of all of his responsibilities with the team, which lost 31-7 to the Philadelphia Eagles in the NFC Championship Game. If the meeting goes well, a deal could be in place to hire Ryans as soon as Tuesday, Wednesday at the latest.
Ryans has been one of the Texans’ prime candidates throughout the process. Initially the former 2006 second-round pick had little interest returning to the Texans, but eventually warmed up throughout the process.
