The New York Jets might have made their intentions clear when they hired Nathaniel Hackett to be their new offensive coordinator Thursday. Since many people already surmised that the ex-Denver Broncos coach was originally brought to Colorado to lure Aaron Rodgers there, the Jets taking on a now much-maligned offensive mind led to similar conclusions.
Hackett is presumably a Jets coach because they want to engage in a trade with the Green Bay Packers for the 39-year-old four-time MVP. But even if the Jets want to make Rodgers their new signal-caller — amongst various other options to perhaps successfully replace Zach Wilson — that doesn’t mean such an outcome is guaranteed.
There’s a feasible reality where a Rodgers trade to New York never happens, and Hackett and the Jets are saddled with Zach Wilson — the former No. 2 overall pick who looks like a giant bust at the moment.
Naturally, such an outcome had folks laughing about the catastrophic possibilities for Gang Green.
