Panthers ‘poised to move quickly’ for DC after hiring Frank Reich

With Frank Reich locked up, the Panthers are expected to move quickly on finding a new DC.

The Carolina Panthers may just be getting started on their coaching staff.

On Thursday, the team announced its hiring of Frank Reich as their sixth full-time head coach. But with 2022’s interim leader Steve Wilks and his righthand man Al Holcomb now out of the picture, they have a new vacancy to fill at the defensive coordinator position.

So, when will they get to that piece of business?

According to NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport, they’re poised to “move quickly.

“What the Carolina Panthers have done during this process is also interview several defensive coordinators,” he said on Thursday afternoon. “Some of the top names including Vic Fangio, Kris Richard, Marquand Manuel. Some of the really top ones. And I would also keep an eye on Gus Bradley.”

As Rapoport noted, the Panthers have already spoken with Fangio (the team’s very first defensive coordinator), Richard and Manuel. But Bradley, who has ties to Reich from Indianapolis this past season, remains under contract with the Colts.

NFL insider Josina Anderson reported yesterday that Reich and the Panthers had already begun delving into coaching staff scenarios. So expect the dominoes to keep on falling.
