I get it.
He’s the GOAT.
No matter where he goes, Tom Brady is going to attract eyeballs and smartphones like moths to a flame.
But it’s one thing to notice that you’re standing a few feet away from the best quarterback in football history, and just acknowledge how cool that is. It’s another thing entirely to invade his privacy with your need to do TMZ’s dirty work.
The latest chapter in this tale as old as time?
Brady was evidently touring a private school for his kids in Miami, and someone in the building thought they’d get their own 15 minutes by following him around and getting video evidence of his presence.
As if that wasn’t bad enough, when Brady finally noticed he was being filmed, you can hear a voice ask him whether or not he’s going to come play for the Dolphins.
(I’m not linking or sharing the video here, because I have no interest in giving it any more engagement or interaction than it’s already gotten. If you want to see it, I’m sure it’ll be easy for you to find.)
Ignoring the fact that Brady’s kids already live in Miami, so the fact that he would be touring a school for them has no bearing on what his future football plans might be, the fact that so many still can’t view professional athletes (or any celebrity/public figure) as just a human being, instead of a social commodity to be consumed and distributed, is just gross.
He may be the GOAT, but when Brady walked into that school, he was just trying to be a good dad.
It would be great if we could let him.
