Brazilian MMA fans have waited almost three years for the UFC to return to their country, but they’ve had to be even more patient than that if you think about it.
The last time the UFC held an event in Brazil was March 14, 2020 for UFC Fight Night 170 at Ginásio Nilson Nelson in Brasilia. The paid attendance that night was zero after the last-minute decision to not allow fans into the building just as the COVID-19 pandemic was starting to turn the world to sh*t. So really you have to go back even further, to UFC Fight Night 164 on Nov. 16, 2019 at Ginásio do Ibirapuera in Sao Paulo, as the last time an arena full of passionate Brazilian fans relished a live UFC event.
As you can imagine, UFC 283 on Saturday at Jeunesse Arena in Rio de Janeiro can’t come soon enough. To mark the occasion, the UFC produced one of its most incredible promo videos that reminds us just how much MMA means to Brazil – and Brazil means to MMA.
This will give you chills (via Twitter):
I'm in tears. This is probably one of best promo by @UFC in Brazil. Incredible. Unique. Special. THANK YOU all team to did this to us. Apologize to post this here. YOU need to watch! #UFC283 @laura_sanko @dc_mma @jon_anik @felderpaul @JohnMorgan_MMA @BigMarcel24 @arielhelwani pic.twitter.com/byW6PkHSE3
