The Los Angeles Lakers were a very unlikely candidate to end the Memphis Grizzlies’ 11-game winning streak.
When the two teams met on Friday night at Crypto.com Arena, the Lakers got outrebounded 63-47 and gave up 64 points in the paint. Not surprisingly, they fell behind by 13 late in the third quarter and looked like they were headed for yet another defeat.
But instead, they kept fighting back throughout the fourth quarter. Memphis failed to make its free throws, which allowed the Lakers to stay on its heels until Dennis Schroder came up with the steal, layup and free throw that put them over the top with 7.6 seconds left.
Across Twitter, fans were amazed that the Lakers somehow bested Ja Morant’s crew, 122-121.
