Ravens OT Ronnie Stanley hopeful that team will retain G Ben Powers in free agency

Ravens offensive tackle Ronnie Stanley says that he hopes the team will retain guard Ben Powers in free agency

As the Baltimore Ravens turn their attention to the offseason, starting offensive tackle Ronnie Stanley told reporters in his end-of-season media availability session that there is one player slated to be a free agent that he wants back on the team’s roster in 2023.

Guard Ben Powers was a force on Baltimore’s offensive line all season, but with his contract set to expire at the end of the league year, his future with the Ravens is officially in question. That reality didn’t seem to sit well with Stanley, who made it clear that Powers was a talent that he wants back in Baltimore.

“I love ‘Benny P.’,” Stanley said. “He’s a great guy. He’s just a road-hog. He comes out, he’s a physical guy, he gives his all every game. He’s just a gritty, gritty person. Those are types of guys you need, especially on the interior line. He’s grown so much this year. [He’s] played every single game this year. I don’t know what the future holds for him. I really hope that they can work something out where he can come back. But wherever he goes, I know he’s going to be a benefit to whatever team he’s on.”

What the future holds for this Ravens team is unclear at the moment, but if  they intend to keep quarterback Lamar Jackson healthy behind a solid offensive line for the duration of their 2023 campaign, they would be wise to heed Stanley’s words and bring him back on a new deal next season.
