Florida forward [autotag]Colin Castleton[/autotag] had a career night on Saturday against Missouri and an impressive week overall has earned the Gators’ big man the nod for SEC Player of the Week.
Castleton’s 16 points, 13 rebounds, six assists, three steals and two blocked shots against the Tigers were historic. He’s the first SEC player this century to post those numbers in a conference game and only the second to do so overall – Ben Simmons did it in 2015 for LSU. No Division I player has achieved the feat since 2019.
The conference also recognized Castleton’s stellar 12 free throws made in 15 attempts against LSU earlier in the week. One of the main criticisms looming over Castleton over the past two years has been his ability at the line, and a night like that should help boost his draft stock. He also led the Gators in scoring against LSU with 18 points.
He’d join the 1,000-point club as a Gator against Missouri as well, although that might not have factored into the Player of the Week decision. Some other personal milestones hit this week include passing Joakim Noah and Chandler Parsons on the all-time double-double list at the school and claiming sole possession of second place all-time in SEC Player of the Week honors at UF with his fourth.
