In a game that had a few former Oklahoma Sooners, tight end Mark Andrews led the way for the Baltimore Ravens offense. Only Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Ja’Marr Chase received more targets in last night’s Wild Card Round matchup than Andrews.
While the superstar tight end’s stats have taken a hit since Lamar Jackson’s injury against the Denver Broncos, Andrews was a reliable target for backup QB Tyler Huntley for four quarters.
The former Utah standout targeted Andrews ten times and connected with him five times for a total of 73 yards. Only Chase had more receiving yards on the night.
Andrews also showed great hustle on Huntley’s goalline fumble, where a block in the back was missed by the officials.

Former OU lineman Ben Powers also had a solid night, both in run blocking and pass protection. With Ben Cleveland’s selection in the 2021 draft, Powers’ spot on the roster seemed to be in jeopardy, but the fourth-year pro locked down the starting LG position on a very solid Ravens offensive line. Powers is a free agent heading into 2023.
The two-headed monster of former OU running backs, Joe Mixon and Samaje Perine, didn’t do much against the stout Baltimore run defense. Mixon rushed for 39 yards on 11 attempts and also had 17 receiving yards on three catches.
Overall, it was a bit of a frustrating night for OU alumni in Cincinnati, albeit for different reasons. With the Bengals moving on to the Divisional Round to face the Buffalo Bills, perhaps Mixon and Perine will have better luck next week.
