Michigan to bring back big-time defensive lineman

Let’s go!!

If Michigan had been able to bring back either Mazi Smith or Kris Jenkins for the 2023 season, it would have been a big win for the Wolverines.

As expected, Smith announced he would pursue his NFL dreams by entering the 2023 NFL draft.

Jenkins originally told media he would be back in the maize and blue. And, after some back-and-forth thinking, Jenkins announced on Monday he would stay in Ann Arbor for another season.

Jenkins, the son of former Carolina Panther defensive tackle Kris Jenkins Sr., had a really good 2022 season lining up alongside Smith. During the 2022 campaign, Jenkins recorded 54 tackles, 3.5 tackles for loss and two sacks.

While Michigan lost Smith to the NFL draft, we expect Rayshaun Benny, Mason Graham or Kenneth Grant will slot right beside Jenkins next season.
