For nearly three quarters Geno Smith played as well as any quarterback has against the 49ers this season. Unfortunately, his issues with ball security came back in a bad way late in the game – beginning with a red zone fumble late in the third quarter, followed by another interception in the fourth.
To his credit, Smith has accepted responsibility for his mistakes all season and yesterday was no exception. Here’s what Geno had to say about the Seahawks’ early playoff exit.
Geno Smith, who hasn’t shied away from taking public accountability during the low moments of his breakout season: “I don’t feel good about what happened today. I feel like we could have kept going … I’ve just got to be better and I’m going to take this one personally.” pic.twitter.com/IC0YJay7C1

Despite the rash of turnovers late in the season, overall Smith’s numbers for the 2022 season were quite good. Yesterday, NFL Network reported that he will be back with the Seahawks next season.
