The No. 22 Auburn Tigers earned its’ first SEC road win last Tuesday, defeating Ole Miss, 82-73 at The Sandy and John Black Pavillion.
The Rebels led by one point at halftime, but the Tigers surged to score 48 second-half points to run away with the win. [autotag]Wendell Green Jr[/autotag]. led the team in points with 23, followed by [autotag]Johni Broome[/autotag]’s 19, [autotag]Allen Flanigan[/autotag]’s 15, and [autotag]Jaylin Williams[/autotag]’ 12.
As a team, Auburn shot 49.2% from the field and connected on 82% of its free throws. The Tigers also out-rebounded Ole Miss, 38-28.
Next up for Auburn is a home date with Mississippi State on Saturday for the SEC’s final game of the day. The Bulldogs started off hot with an 11-0 record, but have since dropped to 1-3 in the SEC. The SEC slate has not been kind to Mississippi State, as they have had to battle top-five teams in Alabama and Tennessee early on.
Mixing in a road tilt with Auburn, confidence is not on the side of the Bulldogs, especially with ESPN’s Basketball Power Index. Ahead of Saturday night’s game, Auburn has been given a 75.5% chance to beat Mississippi State.
BetMGM agrees with ESPN’s matchup predictor by listing Auburn as 7.5-point favorite at home, with the over-under set at 128.5.
