One candidate they have their eyes on, however, may be set for a bigger role as the Carolina Panthers have requested to interview Jerod Mayo for their vacancy at head coach.
A strong candidate, Mayo has been the linebackers coach in New England for three years, with a very hands-on role in game-planning and say in playcalling. The Browns have four great candidates listed, so missing out on an interview with Mayo would not be devastating, but his demeanor and attention to detail are coveted in Cleveland.
