The Florida Gators have landed the signature of one of the best offensive linemen available in the transfer portal.
Tuesday night, former Baylor offensive guard [autotag]Micah Mazzccua[/autotag] announced that he would be transferring to Gainesville with two years of eligibility remaining. Mazzccua chose Florida over Auburn and Nebraska. The Cornhuskers’ new head coach Matt Rhule recruited Mazccua heavily, as the two have a history going back to Baylor. Mazzccua committed to Rhule at Baylor before the latter departed to coach in the NFL.
That is good news for the Gators, who are in desperate need of reinforcements along the offensive line. The Gators have had a number of players depart the program either through the transfer portal or by declaring for the NFL draft. Most notably, 2022 consensus first-team All-American [autotag]O’Cyrus Torrence[/autotag], who followed [autotag]Billy Napier[/autotag] from Louisiana to Gainesville and is expected to be one of the first offensive guards taken in the 2023 NFL draft.

According to Pro Football Focus, Mazzccua ranked as the second-best guard in college football this past season as a pass protector., having started ten games for the Bears. Coming out of high school, he was the No. 44 ranked interior offensive lineman in the 2020 class, according to the On3 Consensus. He is expected to slot in as an immediate starter and leader of the 2023 offensive line.
