Despite building a 17-10 halftime lead, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers called off the dogs in the second half, allowing a huge comeback by the Atlanta Falcons on their way to a 30-17 loss.

Tom Brady played only the first half, as most of the starters were also pulled to preserve their health for the postseason. Brady threw a touchdown pass to veteran tight end Kyle Rudolph, and broke a pair of NFL records before hitting the bench for the rest of the day.

Chris Godwin secured his 100th catch and went over 1,000 yards receiving on the year before he was done for the day, while Blaine Gabbert threw a touchdown pass to Russell Gage in relief of Brady.

Second-year quarterback Kyle Trask got the first regular-season action of his career, finishing the game at quarterback for the Bucs with some useful snaps in the fourth quarter.

The result has no impact on Tampa Bay’s position in the postseason, as they still hold the No. 4 seed in the NFC playoff bracket after winning the NFC South for the second straight year.

The Bucs will face either the Dallas Cowboys of Philadelphia Eagles in the wild-card round of the playoffs.
