It took three tires but Florida basketball finally earned its first win of the 2022-23 Southeastern Conference schedule on Saturday with an important win over its rivals, the Georgia Bulldogs led by former head coach [autotag]Mike White[/autotag]. While the game started slow, [autotag]Todd Golden[/autotag]’s troops gutted out an 82-75 home win.
Entering the SEC matchup, the Gators ranked at No. 44 in ESPN’s Basketball Power Index. Following the victory in the O’Dome, the Orange and Blue inched up one spot to No. 43 wedging it between the Dayton Flyers and Virginia Tech Hokies. The change is similar to that in the NET rankings, which saw Florida move up two spots from No. 72 to No. 70.
Next up for Gators are the LSU Tigers, who host them in Baton Rouge on Tuesday, Jan. 10, with tipoff slated for 7 p.m. EST. The bayou boys are coming off a tough loss to the Texas A&M Aggies on Saturday, putting them at No. 89 in the NET rankings and No. 40 in the BPI.
