Young Philadelphia 76ers guard Tyrese Maxey is one of the fastest-rising stars in the NBA. Only 22 years old, he has taken leaps and bounds forward as he has catapulted himself into All-Star conversations at such a young age in the league.
If it weren’t for the fact that he has missed 18 games due to a left foot fracture, he probably would have a better chance at being a first-time All-Star in 2023. He’s averaging 21.4 points and shooting 42.1% from deep on the season as he continues to become one of the better scorers in the game.
HoopsHype put together a list of the top 25 players under the age of 25 and Maxey comes in ranked 11th on their list:
Maxey is ultra-confident, lightning quick and has excellent wiggle, three attributes that make him extremely difficult to defend, particularly on the open floor but also out of the halfcourt. He can hit shots from all over the floor and act as a one-man transition threat whenever he catches a rebound.
Already one of the best young guards in the game, Maxey just missed out on the Top 10 of these rankings but could very well make his way in there when we do this exercise again in a year or two.
Maxey is still working his way back from the foot fracture, but he is trending in the right direction as he and the Sixers continue to move forward on their title quest.
