Mike McCarthy teases ‘another lineup change’ on Cowboys offense

In this week’s press conference, McCarthy spoke of switching things up on the offensive side of the ball. | From @ReidDHanson

In Mike McCarthy’s Monday press conference, he discussed a wide variety of topics. He discussed playoff seeding, injuries, attitude, and routines. He also made mention of a certain lineup change. . .

“Injuries are part of the game,” McCarthy said. “Unfortunately we’ve had one almost every week here the last five weeks. We’re gonna have another line-up change this week on offense. I’m not going to talk about it…you guys do such a good job of finding out anyways.”

Until the Cowboys practice on Wednesday, it will be tough to know exactly what change is in store on offense. Tyler Biadasz is not expected back this week so a return to the normal offensive line set-up will have to wait another week, at the very least.

McCarthy could be considering a different configuration on the offensive line since Tyler Smith and Jason Peters both appeared to struggle when Biadasz went down. But McCarthy spoke of getting more reps and developing more continuity with the unit that ended Thursday’s affair so that would run contrary to the idea of another reshuffle.

McCarthy spoke glowingly of T.Y. Hilton’s emergence as a trustworthy receiver and how he should have a growing role on offense.

Perhaps Hilton officially taking on a top-three role is what McCarthy was referring to on Monday. Hilton has shown he still has that game-breaking speed that can stretch a defense. He’s also shown he can be where Dak Prescott expects him to be on his routes and when all else fails, he can draw penalties at key times with his crisp routes.

Even tight end could see some adjustments in the hierarchy. Behind Dalton Schultz, things could be mixed up based on game plan and strategy.

Aside from quarterback and running back, anything is possible. This is something definitely worth keeping an eye on throughout the week.
