PHILADELPHIA–The Philadelphia 76ers had some concerns on Monday before they took on the New Orleans Pelicans at home as Joel Embiid was listed as questionable for the contest due to lower back soreness.
The big fella ended up playing and he dominated going for 42 points on 15-for-24 shooting with 11 rebounds and five assists. He was terrific all night long as the Pelicans could not find an answer on how to slow him down.
After the 120-111 win over the Pels, Embiid addressed the injury and when it happened.
“It’s just been getting tight lately, but I’m glad we got the win,” said Embiid. “Battled it out and we did a great job. Especially, against them having lost against them earlier last week. It was good to see us bounce back.”
As far as any treatment Embiid received before the game, the big fella stated that he went through whatever the team wanted him to go through after the game.
“Whatever they do,” laughed Embiid. “Just following whatever they’re doing. A little massage and, you know, whatever.”
With that being said, the fact that he had 42 points and dominated the way he did through a back injury deserves a lot of credit and praise.
“I think he played well,” said James Harden. “He’s been playing extremely well and he got us going.”
