How Dolphins can clinch a playoff spot in Week 17

It’s not that unreasonable.

While the Miami Dolphins have lost four straight contests, dropping them to the seventh seed in the current playoff picture, hope isn’t totally lost with two games left.

Actually, there are two ways that Mike McDaniel’s team can clinch a spot in the postseason during Week 17.

If Miami wins their matchup against the New England Patriots, and the New York Jets lose or tie the Seattle Seahawks, the Dolphins are officially in the playoffs.

They can also make it without winning this week, but only if they tie the Patriots, the Jets lose and the Pittsburgh Steelers tie or lose in their game against the Baltimore Ravens.

Obviously, the first option is the much more likely option just because ties aren’t prevalent. There have only been two this season.

With Tua Tagovailoa in concussion protocol, Miami may have to lean on veteran backup Teddy Bridgewater this week, making things more difficult for the Dolphins to clinch a berth.
