As the Cleveland Browns fell short against the New Orleans Saints on Christmas Eve, one of the more bizarre situations happened. Coming off of a terrorizing performance against the Baltimore Ravens, defensive end and Pro Bowler Myles Garrett was not on the field for the opening possession of the game. When asked about it by the media, head coach Kevin Stefanski remained tight-lipped on the matter, stating:
“That was just a team thing. That was my decision.”
He would not go into further detail. Garrett missed practice throughout the week with an illness, so he could have just been on a pitch count. Regardless, it was odd to see him sit out that very first series.
