Report: Knicks have discussed acquiring Tobias Harris from Sixers

The New York Knicks have expressed interest in acquiring Tobias Harris from the Philadelphia 76ers in a deal.

It’s no secret Philadelphia 76ers forward Tobias Harris is making a great deal of money for a guy who has never made an All-Star game or ever approached that level of play. However, he is a very productive player and an important piece to what the Sixers do.

His name constantly pops up in trade rumors because of that contract. The speculation comes with being a player with that type of deal and more popped up this week.

The New York Knicks, who the Sixers beat on Christmas Day, had an interest in Harris per Ian Begley of SNY:

The Knicks at least talked internally about the idea of acquiring Tobias Harris via trade before their winning streak started, and obviously Harris having a nice game against the Knicks on Christmas Day. Tom Thibodeau spoke highly of him before the game, so that’s just one name to keep an eye on.

Just specifically to Harris, I know that he does have some fans in the organization. He’s making a lot of money. It would be a big trade to pull off salary-wise, but it’s at least something the Knicks have kicked around internally prior to this past winning streak.

At this point, it is difficult to see the Sixers trading Harris. Despite his big deal, he has proven an important piece to this team’s success and the idea is he will continue to grow in his role as Philadelphia moves forward with its title quest.
