Kyrie Irving says ‘guys around us make us great’ after comeback win over Pistons

Kyrie Irving gives praise to the guys around him and Kevin Durant for being there to make the team great

Brooklyn Nets guard Kyrie Irving has come a long way as a leader. He has had his share of mistakes made in attempts to lead others towards a championship, but Sunday’s 124-121 win over the Pistons showed how far he has come as a leader of men.

In the victory, Irving had 38 points and that’s given him his fifth game of 35+ points this season. Irving had his game working at all levels of the court as he used his dribble to get to his sweet spots on the floor and attack the rim. Irving did his best in helping Durant overcome their teammates not playing so well on the offensive side of the ball.

Irving and Durant combined for 81 of the 124 points scored by the Nets and every player but “7/11” scored 43 points. Despite that heavy lifting by Irving and Durant, he still praised his teammates for usually being there when they’re needed:

“When one of our leaders, Kev (Durant), gets it going, we keep pushing and he keeps pushing us. When he gets us the lead back or he ties the ballgame, I have to come in and do what I do. Then, we do it together. But, the guys around us really make us great. So, that’s really the tale of the story this year is the guys around us. We’re making each other better.
