Spurs’ Blake Wesley produces 12 points in return from injury

San Antonio Spurs rookie Blake Wesley returned from a knee injury on Friday and reached double figures on assignment in the NBA G League with the Austin Spurs.

Wesley produced 12 points, three rebounds, one assist and one steal in a 112-102 loss to the Mexico City Capitanes. He finished 4-of-9 from the field and converted both of his free-throw attempts in 20 minutes of work.

The 25th pick was cleared to play after missing the past six weeks due to a Grade 3 sprained left MCL suffered on Oct. 30. He was on a restriction of 20 minutes in the contest and thought his knee held up fine during his limited run on the court.

Wesley will travel with Austin to Las Vegas to participate in the annual G League Winter Showcase starting on Monday to get additional playing time. He will play a few games with the team there and likely join San Antonio on the road next week.

The 19-year-old appeared in two games with San Antonio prior to his knee injury. The upcoming slate of games will give him the opportunity to continue to rehab from the injury and get back to 100% on the court.
