The Cincinnati Bengals have had some interesting run-ins with officiating crews over the last few weeks, including the Week 14 game against the Cleveland Browns called by Jerome Boger.

Cincinnati’s Sunday encounter with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers could be similarly interesting because Adrian Hill’s crew has been assigned to the game.

The Bengals haven’t seen Hill since Week 15 of last year against Denver (the Bengals were flagged six times for 38 yards in a 15-10 win). But his crew has called the seventh-most penalties this year, according to The Athletic’s Jay Morrison.

While Hill’s crew is far less erratic and seemingly game-swinging than Boger’s crew, it does average more penalties called.

The Bengals average just 5.1 penalties per game right now, good for a top-six mark leaguewide. They’ll hope to continue that but will need to be extra tight to avoid the officials impacting the game.
