UFC’s Julian Erosa says there will be ‘no stagnant time’ in Alex Caceres fight, expects ‘all action’

Julian Erosa doesn’t see how his UFC Fight Night 216 bout with Alex Caceres won’t deliver.

LAS VEGAS – [autotag]Julian Erosa[/autotag] doesn’t see how his fight with [autotag]Alex Caceres[/autotag] won’t deliver.

Erosa (28-9 MMA, 6-5 UFC) meets Caceres (19-13 MMA, 14-11 UFC) on Saturday’s UFC Fight Night 216 main card at the UFC Apex. The card streams on ESPN+. It’s a bout Erosa has wanted for a while and stylistically he likes how he matches up with Caceres.

“I’ve been asking for this fight for a while mainly just because I think it’s a fun one,” Erosa told MMA Junkie and other reporters at UFC Fight Night 216 media day on Wednesday. “He likes to stand and trade, and he’s very creative on the feet, and I feel like I’m pretty unorthodox on the feet, as well. We’re both decent grapplers, as well. So I feel like anywhere this fight takes place, there will be no stagnant time. It’s gonna be all action for 15 minutes or just someone gets finished.”

Erosa is enjoying his best octagon run having won three straight, most recently upsetting Hakeem Dawodu at UFC 279. With Caceres winning five of his past six, Erosa thinks the winner could end up in the UFC’s featherweight rankings.

“I just figured it would be a good matchup after my last win, and he lost his last fight, so I feel like we’re kind of hovering around that same area,” Erosa explained. “It’ll be kind of the guy who wins this kind of hits that 15 spot maybe.”
