One of the most common comparisons for Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow since he entered the league has been Tom Brady.

Whether it’s on the field, in terms of prep or otherwise, there were whispers of that comparison before the draft and the rumblings of it from inside the league and out have only increased.

Burrow himself? He’s not putting much at all into it ahead of his Bengals visiting Brady’s Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday afternoon.

“I don’t really pay attention to it. He’s Tom and I’m Joe,” Burrow said, according to Geoff Hobson of Bengals.com. “I really just think that I play the game my own way. I kind of have a little bit of everybody. I wouldn’t say there’s one thing I do the best. But I would say that I do everything with the best of them. I wouldn’t say I really have a glaring weakness.”

Burrow did say he thinks he shares a trio of traits with Brady: “I have the quick release. I’ve become really efficient with my lower body, getting the ball out and seeing the defense.”

Like them or not, Burrow isn’t going to be able to shake the comparisons no matter what he says, especially in this age of social media exaggeration. Especially so, should he get the best of Brady in a head-to-head matchup over the weekend.

Provided the Bengals keep winning, Burrow probably can’t complain too much about the noise — which is probably another trait he shares with one of the best ever.
