Cincinnati Bengals linebacker Germaine Pratt created a few headlines earlier this week after firing off a short message on Twitter that said he’d like to play more on third downs.

Turns out that’s all it was.

Asked if coaches had anything to say about the message that gained traction amongst the fanbase, Pratt said he didn’t hear anything. He also clarified what the message meant.

“I want to play third down, Pratt said, according to The Athletic’s Jay Morrison. “That’s my mindset. I’m a three-down linebacker. I want to play. I’m not too worried about the money. The bag’s gonna chase you if you do what you need to do. It’s more about opportunity.”

It was easy to read into the message as potentially something more as Pratt remains scheduled to hit free agency this offseason — especially since he’s the most improved player on the team.

But if coaches didn’t feel the need to address it and Pratt has publicly in a more elaborate manner, it’s safe to say everyone can put the whole mini-saga behind them as the linebacker’s breakout season continues.
