Cardinals TE Zach Ertz suffered torn MCL, ACL

Ertz believes he can be back and fully healthy by Week 1 next season.

Arizona Cardinals tight end Zach Ertz’ season ended when he injured his knee in the first quarter of the team’s game against the Los Angeles Rams.

He has already had surgery to repair it.

The details of the injury were not disclosed by the team or head coach Kliff Kingsbury, but Ertz did when he spoke to reporters after being selected as the team’s nominee for the Walker Payton NFL Man of the Year award.

He tore his MCL and suffered a partial tear of his ACL.

“We didn’t think the ACL was involved early on, and then it was partially torn and it wouldn’t have lasted long-term, so we had to go in and get both done,” he said.

He feels good and said that it would have been very tough to just try and see if the ACL would last.

He believes a possible and attainable goal for him to return and to be feeling like himself is Week 1 next season.
