WATCH: Panthers score after Jaycee Horn picks off Geno Smith on Seahawks’ 1st play

The Panthers came out swinging in Seattle, as Jaycee Horn’s first-quarter INT set up Shi Smith’s first career TD catch.

In case you weren’t aware, the Seattle Seahawks’ home of Lumen Field is known to be a pretty loud place. But that didn’t bother the Carolina Panthers to start their Week 14 showdown.

After an Eddy Piñeiro 47-yard field goal gave the Panthers a 3-0 lead off their very first possession, quarterback Geno Smith and the Seahawks began their afternoon with just over seven minutes remaining in the opening quarter. And on the very first play of their very first possession, Smith found the hands of Carolina cornerback Jaycee Horn—who chalked up his third interception of the season.

Horn returned the pick to the Seattle 13-yard line for a 31-yard runback. That, in turn, would immediately set this up on the very next snap . . .

The 13-yard catch was the first touchdown reception of wide receiver Shi Smith’s career. Smith’s score also helped push the Panthers to a somewhat surprising 10-0 lead at the 6:44 mark of the quarter.
