Nets’ Cam Thomas says trust of coaching staff ‘means everything’

Cam Thomas has something to say to Nets’ coach Jacque Vaughn and the rest of the coaching staff.

When he’s been given significant minutes on the court, Brooklyn Nets guard Cam Thomas has been a constant off the bench for the Nets throughout this season. Known as a scorer who can get hot fast, Thomas is usually deployed when guys like Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving are not in the game and the teams need someone to score.

That made Saturday’s win over the Pacers that much more impressive. Thomas came off the bench to score 33 points 13-of-20 (65%) from the field and 3-for-3 from behind the three-point line.

There have been times this season where Thomas has not played in the second half because of his inability to score or do it in an efficient manner. Nets coach Jacque Vaughn trusted him to deliver despite foul trouble and Thomas spoke on what Vaughn’s belief in him meant:

“It means everything when your coach and the coaching staff trusts you. You play more freely, you go out there and play hard. Real hard. I’m just glad that I got the trust of the coaching staff and that helps me a lot so thank you to those guys for trusting me.”

Brooklyn’s next game is Monday at the Washington Wizards.
