NEW YORK — Brooklyn Nets guard Kyrie Irving had a bounce-back game against the Charlotte Hornets on Wednesday. Irving had 33 points and nine assists in a win that was made harder than it needed to be.
Irving struggled in the loss to the the Boston Celtics on Sunday as he shot 7-for-21 from the field and 1-of-5 from 3-point land. However, against the Hornets, he was 14-of-24 from the field (1-of-7 from three) as he was able to get any shot he wanted which included some spectacular finishes at the rim.
Irving was able to take advantage of any defender that came his way and he was showing off the entire skill set that he possesses. Irving gave his reaction to how the game went.
“They went on some runs where we missed some shots and we gave up a lot of easy looks, and they got it going,” he said. “They got in a rhythm, and then in the fourth quarter, they were just playing with a lot of comfort.”
The Nets, despite their issues, are one of the more talented teams in the league. When teams get set to face them, they will always give their best performance in order to keep up with them. From now on, Brooklyn has to prepare for games such as this one.
”We just got to really be prepared for other team’s best shots even when they’re coming in and not playing as well throughout the season,” Irving added.” You know, they’re still talented. So just got to pay our respects and play the game the right way.”
