Washington Commanders defensive end Chase Young will not be making his season debut on Sunday against the Atlanta Falcons after all, according to Adam Schefter of ESPN.
Schefter reported late Saturday night that Young, who was listed as questionable on Washington’s final injury report Friday is “unlikely” to make his debut in Week 12.
While some view this as a setback for Young, it’s likely that Washington’s doctors haven’t what they wanted from Young yet. Head coach Ron Rivera mentioned he wanted to see Young to the surgically repaired leg into the ground and play off it. Rivera and defensive coordinator Jack Del Rio have continued to preach patience throughout the process in regard to Young’s return.
Commanders’ DE Chase Young, listed as questionable due to the knee injury he suffered last year, is unlikely to make his 2022 debut Sunday, but the team does not want to make any decisions until it first sees him in pre-game warmups, per sources.

Remember, it’s been just over a full year since Young suffered a torn ACL, but he also had the torn ligament removed from his right knee and replaced with part of the patellar tendon from his left knee.
The Commanders play the New York Giants in Week 13 and have a bye in Week 14.
