On Saturday night, in College Station, the Aggies will close out their 2022 season – a season ready to be put in the rear view mirror – against CFP No. 5 LSU. LSU has already punched their ticket to the 2022 SEC Championship game, against CFP No. 1 Georgia, on Saturday, December 3rd in Mercedes-Benz Stadium.
The Aggies have a rich history versus the Tigers – a history of rare success, however – who will be playing their 56th game. The Aggies hold an overall record of 19-34-2. These two programs stepped on the gridiron for the first time in October 1914 and have played in consecutive years since 2011.
Since the Aggies joined the SEC, they hold a record of 2-8 in which one of their wins is the historic 7-overtime game where the Aggies won by a score of 74-72. Their most recent victory was a home win in November 2020 (20-7), and last year’s game, in Baton Rouge, resulted in a narrow 27-24 defeat.
In 2021, LSU was quarterbacked by, now, Aggie, Max Johnson, who had a solid performance. Max threw for 306 yards and 3 TDs, and completed nearly 58% of his passes. The Aggies’ rushing attack was bottled up by LSU, and Zach Calzada led the offensive attack with 242 passing yards and 3 TDs, completing 57% of his passes.
The Aggies will look to play spoiler and give LSU their third loss before they make their way to Atlanta, Georgia.
The Aggies host LSU in their final 2022 regular-season game, at Kyle Field, on Saturday at 6:00PM CT. Saturday night will be the Aggies’ Maroon Out game.
