Despite doubts from some Notre Dame fans when he suddenly became starting quarterback, [autotag]Drew Pyne[/autotag] mostly has answered the call. While he hasn’t wowed anyone to the point where he is considered one of the top quarterbacks in program history, he has done just enough. Even if [autotag]Tyler Buchner[/autotag] had stayed healthy, that really has been the goal for Irish quarterbacks in 2022. Ask any Irish fan now, and this goal should meet a satisfactory grade.
The Irish began the regular season by facing Heisman Trophy candidate CJ Stroud of Ohio State, and they’ll end it against another one in USC’s Caleb Williams. There really is nothing to say except Williams is darn good. He’s a major reason the Trojans are a contender for the College Football Playoff, and he should continue to be that force again next year. This is about as tall of an order as the Irish’s defense has had all season, but we’ve seen what it can do at its best, so don’t lose hope yet.
