On Thursday, Pittsburgh Steelers safety Minkah Fitzpatrick was a full participant at practice. Why is this significant? Because less than a week ago, Fitzpatrick has appendicitis and had to have an appendectomy on Saturday. This forced Fitzpatrick to Miss last week’s game.
But as head coach Mike Tomlin noted on Tuesday, he wasn’t ruling Fitzpatrick out for this week. Pittsburgh has a very good replacement in Damontae Kazee who did a great job in place of Fitzpatrick last week and would do fine again this week. But obviously, a three-man rotation of top safeties just makes a great defense even better.
