Former Nebraska Cornhuskers cornerback Chris Jones was selected by the Seattle Sea Dragons in the XFL Draft. He was the seventh defensive back to come off the board.
Jones played four seasons for the Cornhuskers (2014-17). As a junior, he recorded 37 total tackles, three tackles for loss, and three interceptions. Subsequently, he was an Honorable-Mention All-Big Ten.
Jones was not selected in the 2018 NFL Draft. He was signed by the Detroit Lions as an undrafted free agent, but he did not make the 53-man roster. Then, Jones was signed by the Arizona Cardinals. He went on to appear in 13 games for the Cardinals over the next two seasons; he recorded 22 combined tackles and six passes defended. In 2020, he had stints with the Lions and Minnesota Vikings. In 2021, he played in seven games for the Tennessee Titans.
The Sea Dragons will feature former Dallas Cowboys quarterback Ben DiNucci and former Liberty wide receiver Kevin Shaa.
