Florida’s top quarterback target in the class of 2024, [autotag]DJ Lagway[/autotag], will announce his college commitment on Dec. 7, according to a post he sent out on Twitter on Tuesday.
Florida has been considered the team to beat for some time now in this race, and Lagway’s accelerated timeline seems to favor the Gators. The On3 recruiting prediction machine currently gives Florida 72.3% odds to land the Willis, Texas native.
Lagway has made his way to Florida twice this season, once for the Kentucky game and again for the LSU game. The staff, and even Lagway himself, haven’t shied away from comparisons to Florida quarterback Anthony Richardson, and he’s admitted that UF is making him feel like a priority.

All the puzzle pieces are there for a Lagway commitment to Florida, but college football recruiting isn’t always so simple. Just look at 2023 quarterback Jaden Rashada, who recently flipped his commitment from Miami to Florida. Time changes things and nothing is guaranteed until the pen is put to paper.
Still, Lagway’s early commitment signals a willingness to lead his class and he will likely be recruiting more from the class of 2024 to play with him wherever he decides.
The 247Sports composite ranks Lagway at No. 24 overall in the class of 2024 and at No. 4 among quarterbacks in the class. On3 has him at No. 17 nationally and at No. 4 among quarterbacks, but he has yet to receive the five-star designation. That should come during his senior year, though.
