Indianapolis Colts running back Jonathan Taylor returned to form in the 25-20 win over the Las Vegas Raiders, earning him AFC Offensive Player of the Week honors.
The league announced Wednesday morning that Taylor’s dominant performance earned him the honor after he took 22 carries for 147 rushing yards and a touchdown while adding two receptions for 16 receiving yards.
It was his best performance since Week 1 against the Houston Texans and finally gave us a glimpse of the player that led the NFL in rushing during the 2021 season.
It has been a rough campaign for Taylor in his third season. The offensive line has been in shambles for the majority of the campaign while he’s dealt with a nagging ankle injury for the first time in his career.
However, Taylor returned to his dominant form, which included a 66-yard touchdown run—his longest of the season thus far.
The Colts are hoping to get back into the playoff race with interim head coach Jeff Saturday at the helm, and they’ll need more like this from Taylor down the stretch if their goal is to compete for a playoff spot.
